Alessandro Dandini de Sylva (Italy, 1981) is an artist, curator and publisher based in Rome. His works have been exhibited in cultural institutions such as The Reference in Seoul, Kana Kawanishi in Tokyo, Operativa in Rome, Flowers Gallery in London and Bund 33 Art Center in Shanghai. Among the awards received are the Shanghai Prize, a residency program promoted by the General Directorate of Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture, the East China Normal University and the Italian Cultural Institute in Shanghai, and Les promesses de l'art, a residency program promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute in Paris in collaboration with Paris Photo. His publications are present in museum collections including the Tate Library in London and the ICCD Central Institute for Cataloging and Documentation in Rome. He has curated exhibitions in cultural institutions such as the MAXXI National Museum of 21st Century Arts, the National Roman Museum and the MACRO Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome, the Pescheria Visual Arts Center in Pesaro and the Italian Cultural Institutes in Bucharest and London. He is the founder of Aniene, an editorial project dedicated to artists, curators and independent cultural spaces present in Rome or with a special relationship with the City, and of Istmo, a visual research studio for industrial organizations that combines contemporary photography, documentation of advanced technology and artistic experimentation. He is currently curator of photography at the Pescheria Foundation in Pesaro, photography consultant at Ghella and advisor for photography and publishing at the American Academy in Rome.
